Leading UX for national e-commerce
The Home Depot Canada
Project Manager / UX Manager
Challenge
Guide a multi-disciplinary UX team through Home Depot Canada's digital transformation — spanning e-commerce, customer, and in-store experiences for one of the country's largest retailers.
Overview
At The Home Depot Canada, I led a diverse team of UX/UI designers, analysts, and copywriters through a multi-year digital transformation effort. The work redefined how customers moved between the site, the app, and physical stores — and how in-store associates were equipped to help.
Context
Leadership meant catering to very different strengths across a team: interaction design, research, content, and analytics. Continuous learning, structured critique, and team-building rituals kept creativity high while the practice matured its systems, patterns, and design ops.
My role & team
Project Manager / UX Manager
Approach & process
Working from user personas like Megan and Amy, the team built comprehensive high-fidelity design work grounded in real customer research. Design decisions were tied to business goals through explicit roadmaps and coached across disciplines to build durable UX judgement, not just deliverables.
Outcomes
A more coherent digital experience across e-commerce and in-store journeys, a UX team operating as a strategic partner rather than a delivery function, and design-system practices that continue to compound.
