Challenge
Redesign an entrenched legacy system used by advisors and clients — improving both the information architecture and the interaction layer without disrupting critical financial workflows.
Overview
At Investors Group — part of IGM Financial and one of Canada's largest wealth management firms — I led interaction design on a client account portal and internal intranet overhaul. The mandate: optimize the information architecture and interface of a system advisors used every day, without breaking the workflows that keep client money moving.

Approach & process
User-Centered Design methodologies drove the work. Responsive interface layouts, pixel-precise UI deliverables, and micro-interaction design were produced in tight collaboration with UX researchers, front-end engineers, business lines, and external agencies in a Lean UX + Agile environment. High-fidelity prototypes in Sketch and Invision kept stakeholder alignment continuous.
Outcomes
A modernized experience that reportedly reduced user errors by 50% and increased user productivity by 40% — outcomes made possible by treating the design system, not the screens, as the primary deliverable.
